Choosing the Size of Awning
|
|
|
Measure the height of the wall where you want to install your awning. You need at least 7ft 6in (228.5 cm) from your deck or patio floor to the bottom of any eave, roof or overhang. You must also have at least 8 inches (200mm) of clear unobtrusive space horizontally along your wall where the awning will fit against the house. All brick work must be in sound condition. There must be no objects in the way such as boiler vents. If you have a bungalow, we can supply (for an additional cost) special brackets to allow you to get the awning at the correct height.
- Measure the width across the wall to which the awning will cover, allow enough to over hang your seating area. This measurement will be your width.
- Measure the distance you would like the awning to cover when projecting from the wall in the open position. Add approx 10% extra. For example, if your patio area projects from the house by 2.5m then add 10% which would total 2.75 m. You will need a 3.0m projection awning to cover this.
- Note that the angle of the awning can be as much as 30% below the horizontal.
